Quick Overview

A tin grease lamp for 18th and 19th century use.

Product Description

This tin betty lamp is a grease lamp, named after "besser," the German word for "better." Used during the 18th and 19th centuries, its construction allowed the drippings to fall back into the lamp. It can be filled with bear fat, bacon grease, fish oil, or for a modern substitute, olive oil or lamp oil. It comes with a hook for hanging, but can also be placed on a table. The lamp also comes with a pickwick for adjusting the wick as necessary.
