There were many tinsmiths that booked passage to America from December 1773 to December 1775. Most set out from London and arrived in Virginia or Maryland with a couple arriving in Philadelphia. The age ranged from 16 to 40. Most listed their indenture as 4 years. Of the 32 listed most refered to themselves as whitesmith, with two as tin man, six as tinplate worker, and one as tinker. This information was culled from one section of the book Passengers to America by Michael Tepper, published in Baltimore, 1977. In his book New World immigrants: a consolidation of ship passenger lists and associated data from periodical literature, Volume 1 he writes "That some of them swore to false statements to obtain their passage to America".
That concept makes it hard to do research on 18th century tinsmiths.
