Last week we attended the Raid at Martins Station at Wilderness Road State Park in Ewing, Virginia. It is the premiere event for reenactors that portray colonial frontiersmen. People come from all over the country, even from odd places like Utah. Here is the video advertisement:

We were able to visit with old friends and make some new friends. While I was there I made a kettle for Mark Baker. It was based on one from Fortress Louisburg in Nova Scotia. The original was found in a well dating from 1719 to 1768. It was 6 inches tall and had a bail attached with ears that had only one rivet. The one I made was two breadth which means it had two panels to make up the body. Often these were made in many sizes and would nest in one another.
